Package: gcc We shouldn't install gcc onto the BBC if it doesn't work. If it's too large, we should make it a downloadable package. That also goes for other programs whose only purpose is to help compile C or C++ programs. Users will be confused or annoyed if gcc is present but doesn't work, and, more to the point, it will take up disk space. Packages which are incomplete really should be made downloadable. We do definitely need gcc for libstdc++, but the binaries and so on could be pruned. -- Seth David Schoen <[email protected]> | Reading is a right, not a feature! http://www.loyalty.org/~schoen/ | -- Kathryn Myronuk http://vitanuova.loyalty.org/ |
