That script actually, does work - but other commands issued using exaclt
the same format (except of course the name of the img and the name of
the mountpoint) fail with "invalid argument".

In other words, insisting on filesystem type didn't help *my* image
mount up.  Perhaps lnx.img has some privileged status, because it had 
been mounted before and this is merely a remount?

It occurred to me that your mountpoint is one that is burned into the
plastic, so I tried mounting at /games (which is on the plastic, and
only has two things in it, which don't seem to be depended upon by other
toys).  No joy.
