ncurses 'tic' program is segfaulting after an upgrade to ncurses 5.3
during build. The December 2002 ncurses rollup patch didn't fix it.
In other news glibc 2.3.2 was released today.

After a number IRC interrogations with lnx-bbc developers and follow up
readings on the glibc and distribution compilation, the native compile from a
non-debian distribution seems like a futile effort. I highly recommend
reading the "linux from scratch" website as well as the glibc release
notes.

The lesson in linux for me is kernel compilation and distro compilation are
very different indeed!
I'll follow up with the pkgconfig maintainers as that looks like the only
part of the treatise that looks useful.
Thanks,
