I can confirm this; I have a Dell Inspiron 2650, and dies with:
sim710: No NCR53C710 adapter found

This is reproducable with every version up to and including the nightly 
builds.  I am available for any other testing you need, as well as trying 
out custom ISOs to get this fixed.  Thanks!
