I am writing because you are one of the packagers for smartmontools.

I wanted to let you know that starting with the latest 5.19 release,
smartmontools has an autoconf/automake based build/install system. I've
just issued the 5.19 release on the smartmontools home page.

Special thanks to Guido Guenther for helping to make this conversion.  
Hopefully it will make everyone's jobs easier. If you have suggestions for
improvements to the various scripts, please let me know.

I suspect that the 5.19 release may have hidden problems and might soon be
replaced by 5.20. For this reason, it would be useful to spend a few
minutes to verify that it interacts cleanly with your standard
build/packaging tools, so that we can fix any problems.

different from previous releases.
