Earlier, a box with 64M kernel panic'd, but my laptop (with 512M) boots in ram, and frees the CD tray just fine. I have some issues on this boot-to-ram image, but I don't know yet if they're related to the tmpfs or not (like not being able to ssh into the system when I've set root password and restarted ssh). I would like to see if I could burn CDs now that my CDRW drive is free, if only I could mount my xfs partitions to access my iso. :) What I can say is that with the "rir/runinram/toram" option, I can log in, start X, configure the net, and play around. More exploration is warranted though; feel free to play along at home. Ack!..Michigan is choking. At least the Hawkeyes won decisively earlier today.
