I've done this (actually, with -vvv though) and it's giving me fits.
There's no apparent (to me) reason why it's booting me out.  sshd -d shows
that everything is authenticated -- even if I use keys.  I get auth/login,
then: blam! (in my best soup Nazi voice) no prompt for you!
