I recently reached for a BBC to solve a problem on a Dell PE 1600. This
box has Intel GIG-E and unfortunately the BBC has no driver.

A little research revealed that the question has been asked before and
the answer is that it'll have to wait for a BBC with a later kernel. So
the question now is - is putting a later kernel into a BBC all that big
a deal ? I'm perfectly willing to rebuild my development environment to
have a look at this, but if there are any already known showstoppers,
I'd like to know and save my time.
