i've got a sid chroot (on a mandrake 9.2 box). you of course have to 
install some extra packages; i expect you've read sneakums' chroot 
howto (lnx-bbc.org/chroot.html).

if you're trying to build X, in the words of inkblot, "you'd better 
have some nice liquor at your side" (or so). i haven't gone near it.
