Where does the panic occur?  If it's before the linuxrc, you can modify the
script under meta/root.bin.  If it hoarks after the singularity is mounted, but
before the init levels are run, then you can modify singularity/files/init.

But, what I expect, is that you need to edit fs/devfsd.init and change the
/dev/tty0 rule to make /dev/console -- then add to the
fs/devfsd/files/gar-base.diff patch to register ^console 

I'm heading down the udev path myself.. and it's the path to nowhere currently.
