I did a dmesg, lspci, procinfo, and discover, and redirected output to files for later viewing. Output from dmesg with lines pertaining to the network card are as follows: natsemi.c:v1.07 1/9/2001 .....otherstuffhere PCI: Found IRQ 11 for device 00:12.0 eth0: NatSemi DP8381[56] at 0xd08c8000, <macaddress>, IRQ 11 eth0: autonegotiation did not complete in 4000 usec. eth0: no IPv6 routers present output from discover is as follows: unknown unknown unknown unknown Acer Laboratories Inc. [ALi] M5229 IDE Acer Laboratories Inc. This network device physically works on windows and other linux live cd systems, so I wonder if there is something that needs to be done extra on lnx-bbc? If there are other things I should include (other outputs, or an lspci -v or -vv... etc.) I am more than happy to include them. It appears to be loading the correct driver, it just isn't getting the networking setup correctly. I did add a nameserver in t-n-s, but when I pinged / tracerouted / etc... I was using a known working IP to test with... and got no response. eth0 was up, and the subnet and all looked ok, but it wouldn't ping or anything else. Thanks for any help, Stefan __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Tax Center - File online, calculators, forms, and more http://tax.yahoo.com
