re: boot bbc from ide?

Ive gunzipped and mounted root.bin and am about to
edit the line in linuxrc which lists where the CDROMS
are to be found, in the ultimate search for a
"singularity"

I read somewhere there's a treelike structure for the
devices...

eg is it like
  /dev/hda/2   #second partition on first IDE?
or is it just 
  /dev/hda1 ??
