Dear lnx-bbc people,

Thank you for the lnx-bbc rescue CD. I got a copy at the Linux Expo in San Francisco, while I renewed an eff membership.

Your memtest revealed a 2 bit error in my computer memory that was causing filesystem "holes".

---

I'd like to suggest another FAQ question:

Question:What are some of the other Bootable CD projects and what does each project focus on?

	Response:
Lnx-bbc.org	Provides a compact toolkit for troubleshooting and analysis of computers.
knoppix.org	Provides a full size CD to demonstrate software for K-12 schools.
----

The reason for the question is: your lnx-bbc and the Knoppix CD from the San Francisco expo got me excited about the possibilities of bootable CDs.

In the far distant future I hope to develop a handicap kid media player application. Putting it on a bootable CD means I wouldn't be confined to doing the whole thing in Java, for portability reasons.

I am sure there are a lot of people like me, with different projects, that will be searching for a way to do a bootable CD. Lnx and Knoppix seem to require a very high level of technical sophistication that I might not be able to accomplish. So pointers to other examples of bootable CDs might be the best starting point.

I particularly enjoy the sand patterns left by receding waves at Surfer's Beach, near El Granada, California.
The sand at this beach is unusual, there is some black volcanic ash mixed in with the tan granules.
When waves recede, the water meanders or twists from side to side. The twists drain down to v-shape patterns.
As it drains, the sheet of water goes through several stages. First it is a smooth sheet. Then steps appear. Then the sheet of water becomes evenly lumpy. Then the draining suddenly ends, revealing the v-shapes.
