Jonathan, thanks to you and to Seth David Schoen, who also suggested 
this.  It is a great help.  I was unaware that "eth0" is assigned to the 
USB connection to my Sharp SL-5500 Zaurus.  I am delighted, pickled tink, 
that lnx-bbc finds it, and even knows what sort of thing it is!

"ifconfig -a" shows eth0 (Zaurus), eth1 (NP10T), lo (local loopback), and 
something called sit0, which I take to have something to do with the new 
and improved, bigger and better IPv6.

My wireful connection now works configured by hand with trivial-net-setup, 
but if I choose DHCP, I get the error:

      "/bin/trivial-net-setup  line 495   744
      Illegal instruction   $DCHPCD -d $INTERFACE".

Can anyone say, is "$DCHPCD" a typo that should be "$DHCPCD"?  Does this 
need to be recompiled on the lnx-bbc v.2.1 card?

Others have made suggestions for wireless setup, which I am pursuing.

No longer.  I must have mistyped a DNS octet.
