I couldn't agree more, cloop is just great.  cramfs is good for
really small embedded systems where kernel+fs is less than 
about 8MB, but cloop is better if the root filesystem is bigger
than a few megabytes.

I've often wondered why it's not part of the kernel distribution,
there are so many other sillier drivers that are part of the 
kernel.  Things like 2.6 support would get taken care of much
quicker if it was part of the kernel.
