problems booting from usb pendrive

Hi!

I'm new on this list. I searched through the archive
of year 2003 but found nothing to helpful, so...

I just downloaded lnx-bbc2.1.iso and wrote it to my
usb pendrive (flash ram), trying both NTRawrite and dd
from gnu/linux, in the end also trying vfatfs and
copying everything over from the iso-image. Nothing
could make it boot.

Has anybody tried something similar and made it work?

I own a IBM Thinkpad X23 which can boot usb cdrom as
well as many other things (net, flashcard). Is lnx-bbc
suitable for a laptop wrt. apm, apci, usb, pcmcia &c.?

I've read on the net about booting dsl (damnsmalllinux
based on knoppix) from a usb key ring, but haven't
tried it since it looks like a lot of work. Please
tell me it is simpler! ;-)

I can see it comes with kernel 2.4.19. Has it been
patched against the resent brk-vulnerability break?

(-: A lot of different questions, but all I wanted was
a small linux, and lnx-bbc looks like it might fit the
bill.
