HDD install

New to this list!

I looked in the FAQs for info on a HDD install but did not find any.   
Anyone with experience doing this willing to give me some hints?   We have 
done a HDD install of DamnSmallLinux.  It gave us some initial problems but 
we seem to have overcome those.  We are looking for a minimalist 
installation to graft Firefox in front off.  We have been Debian fans for a 
long time but the totally from scratch ways of BBCappeals to us if we can 
also download the source to do that ourselves.

Does anyone have any feedback on Firefox on BBC yet?
