Hello,

I have tested SD Card hotplug feature on mb/siemens/mc_apl5 with Ubuntu kernel 4.4.0 and cannot confirm the behavior.
With coreboot main as well as on 4.15_branch, I can't see the issue.

cat /proc/partitions | grep -v loop
SD Card not plugged in:
sda
:
SD Card plugged in:
sda
:
mmcblk0
:
