Thank for your input and I certainly appreciate learning about the bananas and chickens.

I think I have what I need.


  *
Busybox is not an operating system
  *
It is a collection of stripped-down utilities that give an operating system like set of commands
  *
Developers can pick and choose which of these to include so it only what is required for it to function
  *
It cannot be easily identified in a file system that Busybox (or part of it) is being used in such a way as a Linux OS is using the os-release file.
  *
The files can be anywhere in the ’system'
  *
They can be renamed. Unlikely, but possible.

The only way to identify them if they haven’t been renamed is to compare the filename against a ‘master list’ of Busybox packages.

While not 100% accurate, if you have excluded any other operating system files and packages from that check, I’m guessing that it would be reasonably close.

I agree this thread is bananas, especially here in this m-list

For the sake of completeness Laurent got the point already before I
was writing this email but can I stop myself from agreeing with others
"minions" about "bananas"? -- nope, obviously! -- and this is the
reason because in the origin (of the Unix time) we were used to
cheering with beers and having fun and pulling our legs each others,
before "having a reputation in a virtual space was worth something in
our imagination.

 Anyway, because I know "my chickens", here we are:

/!\ WARNING

**μChaoSys** isn't an operative system but a recipe to create a
specific operative system. A recipe that a bright kid can operate as
well as the produce operative system but a dumb adult cannot.
Deliberately, this warning allows one to grasp how silly/mad in its
fundamentals is the idea to divide knowledge by age.
