Hi Vincent / All Silly me. I realized the err of my ways, soon after sending the email. After modifying the settings as you describe, my kernel still won't compile. I get the following error: arch/x86_64/kernel/entry.S: Assembler messages: arch/x86_64/kernel/entry.S:512: Error: previous CFI entry not closed (missing .cfi_endproc) make[1]: *** [arch/x86_64/kernel/entry.o] Error 1 make: *** [arch/x86_64/kernel] Error 2 I cannot find anything related to this error on the Internet, so I'd appreciate some help. I am using kernel 2.6.13. As an aside note, you know if I can safely enable CONFIG_SMP, as I am using dual XEON processor machines? Thanks in advance Jamie Vincent Hanquez wrote: >On Mon, Nov 07, 2005 at 04:53:55PM +0200, jamie wrote: > > >>export CONFIG_OPENMOSIX=y >>export CONFIG_PREEMPT=n >>export CONFIG_SMP=n >> >> > >this is *not* the proper way to set a kernel configuration option. >go through make config or make menuconfig or make xconfig > >Cheers, > > ------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net email is sponsored by: Tame your development challenges with Apache's Geronimo App Server.
