Thanks all for the advice. I wasn't going to setup a server farm or
something. I was just planning to buy a decent desktop. I have got
myself a Intel D101 motherboard based system with a Pentioum D
processor. My primary HDD is a SATA drive, but I also have an IDE disk
installed, just in case.

I just managed to compile a 2.6 kernel from SVN yesterday :)
