I sent the last patches, and made a new "pre-alpha release" that's now
that I'll need the help of all the openMosix community:

There will now be only bug fixes till the alpha can be out, and only a
few features before the beta (remote fork, remote execve)

What I need you all to do is :

dowload either the full source version :

http://openmosix.unfreeze.net/releases/kernels/linux-2.6.17-om-20061222-prealpha.tar.bz2

or a 2.6.17 vanilla kernel version (I repeat: 2.6.17 not 2.6.17.x this
*is* *important*) and the patches archive (to apply with quilt) :

http://openmosix.unfreeze.net/releases/patches/patches-20061222-prealpha.tar.bz2

compile the kernel and try it out.

Only manual migration is available yet by echoing the ip address to
migrate to to the /proc/$pid/om/where file (replace $pid by the pid you
want to migrate).

THIS VERSION DOES NOT YET WORK but, I need the help of all to help me
find the bug, please look at the wiki on how to enable the debug output,
then reply to this email including :

- the full kernel debug *and* message output of the migration attempt
(failed or not) (remote and deputy nodes)

- the vmlinux (in the root of the linux tree) you compiled of both
remote and deputy (only send one if the kernel is the same on both

- the complete .config file used to compile the kernel

(as much as possible, please compress the attachements, or even better,
make them available to download on a http/ftp/whatever server).

I am tracking down 3 known bugs :

- migration back does not work
- complex syscalls do not complete
- programs dynamically linked with a lib (eg libc) crash just after
migration

This release had been tested here on amd64 (opteron), and include an
untested i386 candidate patch

Please check out the wiki for more info on how to activate debug traces,
and report bug to me:

BTW: any bugfix patch is welcomed :)

BTW2: Kris, can you add a news on the website please
