When a process cannot be migrated today in openMosix it's because it's best for the performance of the apps. We tried distributed shared memory and the performance was detrimental to may apps. Even something like the sgi Altix, which does distributed shared memory in hardware has unacceptable performance for most apps required dsm. It's just something that needs to be solved within the apps, not the OS.
