SMP Safe?

Hi,

I only just got back to looking into OpenMosix for clustering, only to 
find out that the project is being EOL-ed. This seems quite disappointing 
now that we are finally on the brink of having a stable and usable GFS 
root file system clustering solution which goes hand-in-hand with what OM 
provides.

I have to say that the reason listed (CPUs getting faster and going 
multi-core) is a bit lame. I don't see why SMP and faster computers should 
somehow preclude clustering. There are always bigger problems to solve, 
and there are always simplifications which were necessary before to 
remove.

On that note, I also noticed that the OM v2.6 kernels are not SMP safe. 
Presumably, neither are the older v2.4 kernels.

My question is - why is OM not SMP safe, and what is required to make it 
SMP safe?
