Hi,

a note from a non-expert. OpenMosix is meant for 
high-performance-computing (hpc) clusters, not for failover setups. As 
processes migrate (they are not "mirrored"), processes on a failing node 
die (however, if the node is stopped in a clean way they will migrate 
away from the node). Actually, I would consider the stability of such a 
cluster decreasing with the number of nodes, as one error in the entire 
cluster can actually kill any process (and you do not know on which node 
the critical process actually runs at the time of failure). It is a bit 
like Raid-0 vs Raid-1.

P.S.: You might still use openMosix in a failover setup, if you bind the 
critical services to the home node (and if that fails, they get started 
on the failover system) and still keep running less critical processes 
openMosix-controlled. That way you could use all processing power and 
still have a controlled failover. Somewhat an exotic setup still...
