I don't have a definite answer to your question, but I think that 
Itanium (IA64) and Opteron processors (amd64 or x86_64) are completely 
different architectures.

You can run openmosix on a x86_64 processor with a 32 bit kernel because 
this architecture is compatible with the x86 32 bits architecture. We 
have an openmosix cluster here running on dual-core Xeon nodes with a 
32bit x86 kernel.

Does someone here on the list have some insight on the improvement we 
could expect from running openmosix on a 64 bit kernel (when it's ready) ?
