Ammand, The openMosix help documents clearly tell us that you must use a kernel with the same release AND patch number. So openmosix-2.X.Y must be applied as a patch to a linux-2.X.Y kernel. So presently the highest cvs openmosix version is 2.6.15-beta, thus YOU MUST have a linux-2.6.15 series kernel. You were correct to ditch your customized distro kernel and rebuild a kernel from the vanilla kernel.org sources (e.g., grab a linux-2.6.15.x.tar.gz source tarball). You MOST CERTAINLY DO NOT want to use openmosix-2.4.x against any 2.6 kernel! That's just inviting disaster. PS. I found that 'hardened-openmosix-2.6.17' runs nicely patched against a linux-2.6.17-3 kernel. -- Dr Blair M.
