Hello,

The 2.6 kernels do not need depmod, but the 2.4 kernels do. There should 
have been a package dependency of "modutils" in the rpm, but you can 
install this manually. I'm using Ubuntu 6.06.1 LTS, but there is bound 
to be an equivalent rpm for fedora, otherwise you would not be able to 
run 2.4 kernels. Your openMosix kernel is probably failing to boot 
because it can't load any modules. The "depmod.old" program is invoked 
by the kernel to load modules on demand.

My advice is swirch to Ubuntu :-)
