We've been having a conversation here locally about 'mixing' kernels on OpenMosix nodes. We have 5 slightly different machines in our cluster (Dell 1850, SC1425, 2600, 6600, and IBM Blades). All run 32 bit Intel processors of slightly varying types. At the moment I have precisely the same kernel binary (Debian 2.4.27 kernel + OM) on almost all the nodes, but a few have another compilation from the same sources, but a slightly different configuration. I've been told you must have precisely the same kernel binary on every OM node. I claim all you need a kernel made from the same kernel sources, perhaps made with slightly different config files. As long as the OM settings are the same, we're OK.
