It can only mean that openmosix is not compiled in the kernel (because
you are using the wrong kernel or because you didn't build the kernel
with oM support).

openmosix user-space tools, openmosix userland tools, openmosix-user,
openmosix-tools, ... it's always the same package.

what about chkconfig, update-rc.d, ln -s, ...? (depends on distro)

if there's no /proc/hpc, you already know the problem. Otherwise, look
at the output of "/etc/init.d/openmosix start" and "setpe -c".
