The default speed is the one in /proc/hpc/admin/speed after a reboot, as long as your init scripts don't touch it (including the OM init script that will set it if you have a NODESPEED= line in /etc/default/openmosix). If you want restarting oM to reset the speed, you could boot up and note the speed value, and put that into NODESPEED. It might be nice if there was a way to reset it to the measured default, or at least a userspace version of the measuring code...
