  mpich is an MPI implementation that works well on Linux.  I don't know if 
that's what you're looking for: http://www-unix.mcs.anl.gov/mpi/mpich/ 
 
 LAM is good too, so don't try to switch to MPICH if you have LAM already,
or your GNU/Linux distro only packages LAM.
