Mosix is essentially unstable beyond the 2.4.26 kernel - you are in untested 
territory. Tread with caution unless your cluster users are ok being your
guinea pigs...  If you have a production environment, tread no further.

We recently bought some brand-spankin-new Opterons from SuperMicro... Dual
CPU, SATA controllers from Marvell, etc.

In order to make these work with 2.4.26, we bought the entry-level 3ware
sata controller, which is widely supported in 2.4.x. We got the
3Ware 8006-2 2 Port SATA RAID Controller, and just disconnected the
sata from the motherboard and plugged it in to the 3ware.  (of course,
we had to update the initrd, or the PXE boot kernel params to specify
sda and include the 3ware driver in the kernel)

This has proven so far to be a stable and sane solution.  The LibSata
patches to the 2.4.26 kernel have also worked for us in some situations
where the controller is supported by the patch. There is no soultion
of any kind for the Marvell SATA controller, AFAIK in any kernel, 2.4 or 2.6.
Its too new.

I am suprised to hear that the "SMP" does not work in your kernel -
how is that problem manifesting itself?
