SuSE 9.3, PCLinuxOS, and OpenMosix 2.4.26

Hi,

I've been trying to set up a multimedia production studio fully based on 
linux.  Singularly, my studio machines are all set.  I have all the 
software configured, tested, and working.  However, I want to up the 
ante, and integrate OM on my linux server, thus allowing me to run my 
studio in a cluster mode via BCCD on all other machines.

The distros I've been trying to use (with limited success) are SuSE 
10.0/9.3 (no success with either), and PCLinuxOS (moderate success).  
The reason is that my central node has to have software packages such as 
Cinelerra, LiVES, Jahshaka, and Kino.

SuSE attempts:
Installation went through without an error, hitch, or hiccup.  I ran 
mkinitrd, got the initrd image I needed, and then modified GRUB to load 
the new kernel and initrd.  However, when I reboot into the new Cluster 
Kernel, I get a black screen immediately.  No combination of initrd 
images, and kernel images seems to work at all.  All with the same 
non-descript result of a "black screen while booting."

PCLOS:
Here's where I've had the most success.  I have a thread on the PCLOS 
forum about my trials and tribulations regarding OM testing. 

I have had it working, and migrating processes that even surprised me 
(for example: GIMP GAP rendering, and PCLOS's mkliveCD option both 
migrated with ease).  Problem is that devices, and drivers are all over 
the place.  I've found fixes to some, but others still remain unresolved.


I've made arguments with the PCLOS dev team that OM should be integrated 
into PCLOS due to the wide package support, ease of use, and the liveCD 
base (with a really friendly installer).  I'm beating my head against 
the wall on this one, but in the end if I can get this to work on PCLOS 
(SuSE would be nice, but I perfer PCLOS) it will be worth the concussion.


My Master Node is setup like this:

Currently: SuSE 9.3
Dual P3 800MHz
1GHz PC133 SDRAM
10GB Seagate HDD PATA (/)
20GB Maxtor HDD PATA (/home)
ATi RageXL 32MB
10/100 Realtek EtherRX NIC

Eventually this server will be reconverted back into a high-end Squid 
Server, for now its my main test machine since I can do SMP and single 
cpu testing on it.
