Hi,
I have two P4 PCs I have used for testing. I will see if I can connect a 
serial cable to the init node. I will also try exchanging hardware to 
see if its hardware specific.
The PCs work well with 1.9.3 installed from the debs and other previous 
versions so the hardware should be okay, it can however be something I 
have left out from the kernel but I mostly disabled just device drivers 
(sound etc.) Will compile it tomorrow with unmodified config options.
