Hi,

Support for newer Distribution like Debian 4.0 and Debian  sid would be nice - maybe with a deb svn repo of daily snapshots?

The use of a newer Linux Kernel will bring a better Hardware Support for "Desktop Clusters".

Faster Porting to new Kernel Version will be nice.
Like 2.6.18, 2.6.24/25?

btw Stan has been porting to 2.6.18 earlier this year. You can find it in
SVN.

I'm looking forward to porting the 2.0.0pre3 (aka. 1.9.6) release to a
newer 2.6 kernel...  Thinking about why not to 2.6.16.y stable stable first
as in the original plan.

Just a "me too". I'm currently just getting into the world of clustering
at a kind of "hobbyist" level. I'm using current hardware, so I need to use
a reasonably current kernel. OpenSSI WOULD be my first choice, but I'm now
looking at Kerrighed instead simply because a 2.6.11/12 kernel is WAY too
old for the hardware I'm using.

Re. John Hughes work: it's good to see that at least someone is trying to
do something, but it'd be nice if the "main guys" could see a need to stay
a bit more up-to-date. As Mr. Hughes himself said, his forward port doesn't
include Roger's latest work, so we can either have an out of date kernel or
out of date OpenSSI on a newer kernel.

It is kernel 2.6.12. I hope on Debian soon we can get support for at least
kernel 2.6.18, where many more drivers (mainly ethernet drivers) were
added.
