So here are a couple of patches that reduce the stack usage on this path 
(and some others) and, so far, seem to be enough to get OpenSSI/drbd 
working with 4k stacks.

(Two patches to get under SourceForge 40k message size limit).

If you want to try this please use my irq.c stack overflow backtraces 
patch, and if you get any overflows please let me know.
