OpenSSI 1.9.6 Preview -- Can't create initrd file, can't boot.

I am working with a fresh install of Debian and following the instructions
online. 

I went through instructions 1 through 17 but I can't reboot because I it
couldn't make the initrd file. I don't know if there is something more I
need to do or if it is something broken. I would appreciate someone
pointing me in the right direction. 

Here is the output I'm geting when trying to install the kernel for a
second time. (meaning I installed got the errors, then ran the command
again to capture the output.)
