debian volatile is where they bung quick changing stuff like virus 
scanner patterns.  (I.E. stuff where the changes are not too large and 
you don't want to be forced to wait for the next update).

It gets installed in /etc/apt/sources.list by the standard install.

Having it should cause no problems.
