Thank you, I'll check this out and if possible provide some update/feedback.

Anyway, I still have problems with the setup in my machine and I don't 
think is something related to hardware. Don't see how using QEMU would 
help with that.

I would provide some updates in the instructions provided at 
http://openssi.org/cgi-bin/view?page=docs2/1.9/debian/INSTALL.html but I 
  need some guidance (I believe updating the LaTEX source is preferable).
