Whoops, forgot to reply to this. I think mine is better because it does
verification of actual system state after the apt transaction, and because
it uses syslog (via the 'logger' program) instead of just writing to an
arbitrary file.

I just recently noticed that it needs to be fixed to deal with 'apt-get
reinstall' properly; I'll do that before I package it up for you.
