Clients can get checksum failures, missing file-errors and such if they happen to update in mid-sync but it's safe in the sense that nothing horrible will happen - they'd get errors anyway if you'd shut down the web server. Rsyncing live mirrors is how pretty much everybody does it anyway :) - Panu -
