Hi, I realy hope you guys can help me. I am having endless problems with setting up printers in Linux. The printing is basically from Linux to a printer hosted on a Windows machine. No problem! Using a filter that uses smbclient the Linux box prints fine to the windows based printer that it gets pointed to in the printcap.local and the filter. I start picking up problems though when I have more than 2 printers added in the printcap.local file. I am including a copy of the printcap in question, okidatam|dotmatrix on Nt_Server:\ :sd=/var/spool/lpd/okidatam:\ :if=/var/spool/lpd/okidatam/okidatam-filter:\ :lp=/dev/null:\ :mx#0:\ :sh:\ hplj4l| Hp laserjet on Jackie's workstation:\ sd=/var/spool/lpd/hplj4l:\ :if=/var/spool/lpd/hplj4l/hplj4l-filter:\ :lp=/dev/null:\ :mx#0:\ :sh:\ hplj4la| Hp laserjet on Tracey's workstation:\ sd=/var/spool/lpd/hplj4l:\ :if=/var/spool/lpd/hplj4la/hplj4la-filter:\ :lp=/dev/null:\ :mx#0:\ :sh:\ etc.... with the first two entries all is fine. As soon as I have added the 3rd entry things start going wrong. When I try and print to hplj4la I get an error stating that the printer does not exist on the server and that the spool directory "hplj4la" can not be found, but when I create a new printcap file with just the hplj4la entry everything works fine!? What am I doing wrong?
