My tour through the linux distros didn´t lead me to slackware so far. Seems to be a rather remote place.

Respecting your engagement for slackware I still guess more people could profit from your efforts if you did it for the debian community. Do people choosing slackware care about compiling a new kernel or do they even seek a graphical installer?
