Well, my main reason for asking about the source code of the
keyfinder programme is the case of an accidentially deleted keyfile
with the loop still mounted, similar to this one:

The problem is that Jari's solution does not work on a
root-filesystem - your keyfinder programme would. And it would
simplify the process for non-root filesystems as well.
