It sounds to me like inotify would be a better match for your project.

Inotify comes standard in in kernels after 2.6.13 (if memory serves) and it
is already used by several desktop search systems, as well as file managers
and other applications.

I would only choose dazuko over inotify the application needs to support old
kernels or the application needs to be able to prevent file access of other
processe
