If you install the package "wine", it usually only installs the "wine64" package as a dependency, unless you're running a 32-bit version of Debian. So you probably never had "wine32" installed and thus don't remember uninstalling it. Or maybe it conflicted with something else and apt uninstalled wine32 to resolve the conflicht?
