Libwayland update causes Plasma desktop freeze on login

Hi,
after upgrading libwayland-* packages from backports Plasma desktop failing to start freezing 
the system at login.

Downgrading the packages to the previous version everything goes back to normal.

These are the updated packages:
Upgrade: libwayland-cursor0:amd64 (1.21.0-1, 1.23.0-1~bpo12+1), libwayland-server0:amd64 
(1.21.0-1, 1.23.0-1~bpo12+1), wayland-protocols:amd64 (1.31-1, 1.37-1~bpo12+1),

1.23.0-1~bpo12+1), libwayland-dev:amd64 (1.21.0-1, 1.23.0-1~bpo12+1), libwayland-client0:amd64 
(1.21.0-1, 1.23.0-1~bpo12+1)

Searching for similar problems I found a debian bug (bug=1076729) and this article that seems to 
reproduce the same problems I had:

At the moment I am not able to try solutions such as rebuild KWin or other system packages.
