When building from source, what counts are the source package's dependencies, not the runtime dependencies. If you have "source" entries in your /etc/apt/sources.list you should be able to "apt-get build-dep snort". HTH, Ray -- The "Penguin Powered" logos people love should really be "Penguin Empowered".
