In decreasing order of likely-hood (most likely to least likely)
It may strengthen the Linux server and Samba market.  It may  
strengthen the Mozilla and other browser/calendar/email/...  
applications market.  It may strengthen the non-MS media player market.

But it will definitely *not* strengthen the Linux desktop market.

The arena where the most help for Linux desktop is likely to come  
from is the fight against the MS OOXML "standard" proposal.  And  
that's a long-shot IMHO.
